Bajamas, our Bristol 32 Sloop

1973 Bristol 32:

Bajamas is a 1973 32' Bristol sloop, hull #77. She has a 4'8" draft and a 9.5' beam, she has a displacement of 11,300 lbs. She has wheel steering with a tiller backup in a very long cockpit and deep lazerettes since there are no aft berths down below. On the interior forward, she has a full double berth. Working back from there, she has a head to port and a wet locker to starboard. 2 full settees in the salon with a drop down table between. In the rear of the salon is the galley that stretches to both quarters. Headroom is over 6'. We recently added a nice "Tweed" dodger and will follow up with a matching sailcover this year. We had considered a matching bimini but may go with solar panels over the cockpit. Time will tell.

Our original plans for Bajamas was to keep the Atomic-4 for the first few years since it had been overhauled just before we purchased her and replace it with a new Kabota diesel before we headed south. I have since done much research on alternative power sources and believe that we are sold on installing an Electric Motor instead of the diesel. We feel that the long term benefitsof the electric motor far outweight the negatives. I plan on doing a full write up on this in the future. I can also say that I will be following up with many posts on this subject to let you know how we progress and what are feelings are for this setup.
