Q1: Are you Bananas?
A: Yes...we are Bananas!
Q2: If you sell your house, where will you stay?
A: Aboard our 32' Bristol sailboat. Our sailboat has all the major amenities that your house probably has, just smaller.
Q3: Where will you go in the Winter?
A: South! Since the Hudson River freezes, we can't stay here. Our first year plan is to go to the Bahamas but if we find happiness in the Keys or the Outer Banks, plans can change.
Q4: Are you Bananas?
A: Please pay attention, we already covered this question. Yes...we are Bananas!
Q4: How will you get South? In the Ocean?
A: Although it is possible for us to sail the open Ocean to get South, we will take an inner water route called the InterCoastal Water Way (ICW). It is much slower going but is far more protected than being in the Ocean. For our first year out, we will stick primarily to the ICW. We are in no hurry and would like to enjoy the trip as well as the destination.
Q5: Aren't you you afraid of Pirates?
A: Yes! Pirates by nature are very scary people, however, what would any Pirates want with two old people on a 35 year old boat with no booty aboard? In reality, Pirating is defined by someone who robs at or near sea. In this definition, pirating happens all over to some degree but the "Arrghhh" Pirates that people ask about (since there has been such an outbreak in stories on T.V. lately), are not found on the Eastern seaboard or anywhere in the Bahamas or Florida Keys.
Q6: How about Sharks, are you afraid of them?
A: No, actually, we like Sharks....right next to the coleslaw with spicy dip. ;-) (Just kidding Pat!)
